Beginning of the story and the change of owners
The history of the mentioned reservoir began in the 19th century. Famous landscape gardener Humphry Repton was engaged in its creation.
Initially, the lake belonged to the Highams Estate, which was built in 1768. Later, it became a military hospital and a high school for girls.
The lake became public property only at the end of the 19th century.
