Features of the climate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The city can boast of an interesting history of meteorological observations. The first records of weather conditions date back to 1697. Those observations were made in Kew Gardens. Nowadays, this place is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Great Britain. Later, the climatic features were studied in different parts of London. Thus, in 1841, one of the stations managed to record the longest continuous temperature series. In 1910, a meteorological station began operating in St James Park. The highest temperature ever recorded in London (40.2 \u00b0C) was recorded there in July 2022. Climatic features played an important role in the agricultural development of the city. Of course, there were cases when the deterioration of weather conditions negatively affected the yield, but in general, the climate is quite favourable for the development of this sphere. Before the 20th century, a large part of the territory of modern London was used precisely to breed livestock and grow crops. You can trace it if you pay attention to the names of some modern areas of London. They have remained unchanged for historical reasons, as they reflect the activities of the people who lived on those territories. Some of them are Shepherd’s Bush, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, Wormwood Scrubs and Ealing Common. However, later the development of the city led to the emergence of many modern buildings and to some extent the decline of the agricultural industry. It was proven by ADAS statistics, which was published in 2005. Their report noted a small portion of the income coming to the state budget thanks to the activities of the city’s farmers. So, in fact, Great Britain benefited more from the results of the scientific, industrial, cultural and tourism spheres. However, despite the small impact on the country’s economy, agriculture played an important role because it was associated with diversification processes.
